A new bedroom

So it’s nearly been a year and we are still working on the house. To catch everyone up. We bought a fibro house (built in 1965) in Western NSW for a steal, the previous owners had started but not finished a renovation. Leaving many strange hillbilly engineering feats for us to figure out and/or make right. Even the real estate agent didn’t want to sell it to us. We probably should’ve listened, but hey its not the stupidest thing we’ve done.

Time to tackle the main bedroom, which also comes with an eggplant feature wall. Which took two layers of undercoat to lighten up! Anyhoo I forgot to take a before everything shot with the chocolate brown carpet and sagging ceiling, but that’s probably for the best. So this is the shot I remembered to take before we got too far.

The ceiling has been dropped out and replaced and new fan/light put in. Over on the eggplant wall there are old fashioned air vents that will be cut out and plastered up. The walls will be painted a colour called Fossil, which is awesome for hiding grubby hand prints. That big front window is getting a custom made box blind and well as an awning out the front. So much going on for a room with not much in it.

Oh and I forgot to mention the extra window. We had to take out another huge window, because we needed a wall for a wardrobe.

And carpet down, paint on walls. Now for the wardrobe. Did I mention there is not one cupboard in any bedroom? The previous owners of this house did extend and add two bedrooms, however they didn’t finish and only got as far as making a space for built ins, but no shelving or doors were put in place. The original bedrooms (in the part of the house built in 1965), were just square rooms with no storage, we have now changed all that.

Nearly there, wardrobe is in just waiting on the doors which are on order. Now to cover up that window and I’ve got myself a bedroom!
