These here are trying times for a blogger that talks about adventure. Things are getting a bit tetchy in the house, the kids are asking every morning ‘what are we doing today?’. Only the week before they were asking ‘where are we going today’, so that is a bit of an indictor that they too are despairing at being stuck at home.
Add to the mix the confusion and information overload that is schooling right now, we are running out of ways to make all this feel normal, and give them answers. It is very hard to know what to tell the kids anymore, with no end date in sight and confusing information coming from our state government.
We are also in the middle of a home renovation, which we decided to push ahead with (as we desperately need a second toilet!) kicking off at a time when we were planning on being out of the house having an adventure. I fear we are entering a new kind of normal, and this could be the way of things for the next twelve months to come, even out here in the wilds of new south wales, where the rona may not even touch. We’ve homeschooled before, surely we are up to this challenge right?
As luck would have it, we happened to get a puppy just before lockdown came, and this little ball of fluff has become a great distraction from our house detention.
